Solar cameras
Solar cameras for imaging the Sun and Moon. These Player One Apollo cameras have global shutters, which capture the whole frame at once. Their larger pixels suit the long focal lengths of solar telescopes. Most are mono, the usual choice for the Sun in hydrogen-alpha.

Always use a proper solar filter
Never point a camera or telescope at the Sun without a solar filter made for it, fitted over the front of the telescope, or a dedicated solar telescope. The camera does not protect your equipment or your eyes.
Choosing a solar camera
Sensor size decides how much of the Sun fits in one frame: larger sensors take in the whole disc at longer focal lengths. Pixel size works with your telescope’s focal length to set how fine the detail is. A global shutter avoids the slight skew a rolling shutter can give on fast-changing detail. Camera specifications explained covers shutters and pixel size.
We’ll help you choose
Tell us your solar telescope or filter and we’ll suggest a camera that fits the whole disc, or the detail you want. Call 01743 224 180 or send us a question: we answer the same working day.
