Overview
The ToupTek GPM662C is a colour guide camera with Sony’s IMX662, a 1/2.8″ STARVIS 2 sensor of 2.1 megapixels with 2.9 µm pixels.
STARVIS 2 sensors are sensitive, so the camera finds guide stars in short exposures, and low read noise keeps faint stars above the noise. With 2.9 µm pixels on a 200 mm guide scope it guides at about 3″ per pixel, which PHD2 handles well with sub-pixel centroiding.
It runs over USB 2.0, which is plenty for guiding, and the G3M662 is the faster USB 3.0 version for planetary work.
Guiding connections
The camera runs from a single USB-C cable, and an ST4 port gives a direct guide connection to mounts that need it. It slides into a guide scope’s 1.25″ focuser with the supplied nosepiece, or threads on with the CS adapter. The aluminium body is 37 mm across, small and light enough for a guide scope or off-axis guider.
