Overview

The Player One Ceres 462M is an uncooled mono astronomy camera built around Sony’s IMX462 sensor. Its 1.25″ body slides straight into a guide scope or an off-axis guider, and it weighs 65 g.

As a guide camera it is sensitive and quick to set up. Read noise falls to 0.7 e⁻ at high gain, and the IMX462 responds strongly in the near infrared, so short guide exposures still find stars. On a 200 mm guide scope it samples at 3″ per pixel over a field of about 96 × 55 arcminutes.

It also works as a starter planetary camera. The 2.9 µm pixels are best matched at around f/14, and it runs at 136 frames per second at full resolution.

The body has an M28.5 thread as well as the 1.25″ barrel, and back focus is 7.5 mm. Fit a 5–100 mm CS-mount lens and it becomes a finder or a lens-based guider.
