Overview
The ToupTek G3CMOS20000KMA is a mono camera with Sony’s IMX183, a 1″ sensor of 20 megapixels with 2.4 µm pixels, in a fan-cooled body.
Mono and a large sensor make it a full-disc solar and lunar camera: the whole Sun or Moon fits in one frame at around 600 mm, and every pixel records detail through a hydrogen-alpha or calcium filter. It also suits live stacking of bright deep-sky objects through narrowband filters.
The IMX183 is an older sensor with some amp glow, which dark frames remove.
Cooling
A fan in the body carries heat away from the sensor. It doesn’t cool below the air temperature, so it isn’t a replacement for a TEC-cooled camera on long deep-sky exposures.
