Overview
The Player One Artemis-C Pro is a cooled colour astronomy camera built around Sony’s IMX294 sensor. Its 4/3″ frame and 4.63 µm pixels make it a deep-sky camera for refractors and fast astrographs.
On an 800 mm telescope it samples at 1.19″ per pixel over a field of about 1.4° × 0.9°. The 23.2 mm diagonal needs a telescope that corrects that much field; 36 mm or 2″ filters cover it.
At low gain each pixel holds 65,800 electrons, so bright stars keep their colour. In high-gain mode read noise falls to about 1.8 e⁻ for short exposures and dual-band filters.
Two-stage cooling holds the sensor about 40 °C below the air temperature, at a set point you choose. A heater keeps dew off the window. Tilt is adjusted from the back with a four-point plate.
The round front avoids diffraction spikes on a RASA. Back focus is 17.5 mm, or 12.5 mm with the tilt plate removed. The 512 MB buffer stops dropped frames on slower laptops.
The camera weighs 650 g. The cooler runs from 12 V, and the power supply is not included: Player One recommends one rated at 5 A or more.
