Overview
The PureSight A1 is a dual-band filter that passes two narrow slices of light, hydrogen-alpha at 656.3 nm and oxygen III at 500.7 nm, and blocks almost everything else. On a one-shot colour camera it brings out emission nebulae from a town garden, where an unfiltered camera records mostly sky glow.
Each passband is 5 nm wide, narrower than most dual-band filters, which gives better contrast around a bright Moon. ToupTek tune the passbands for fast optics, f/3.2 and faster, where light reaches the filter at steeper angles and wider filters would let in more sky. Peak transmission is 90% or more, and blocking from 200 to 1100 nm is OD5, so only 0.001% of unwanted light gets through.
| Passbands | Hα 656.3 nm, OIII 500.7 nm |
| Bandwidth | 5 nm (±1.2 Hα, ±1 OIII) |
| Transmission | ≥90% |
| Blocking | OD5, 200–1100 nm |
| Glass | Fused silica, 2 mm |
| Cell | 2″, M48 × 0.75, 43.9 mm clear aperture |
Fit it with the threaded side towards the camera. It suits full-frame and smaller sensors, colour or mono.
