Overview

The Player One Sedna-M is an uncooled mono astronomy camera built around Sony’s IMX178 sensor. Its 1.25″ body slides straight into a guide scope, and it weighs 65 g.

The 2.4 µm pixels are small, so it gives fine guiding even on a short guide scope. On a 200 mm guide scope it samples at 2.5″ per pixel over about 2.1° × 1.4°. Read noise falls to 1.3 e⁻ at high gain.

It also works for imaging the Moon and planets. The 6.4 MP sensor gives 14-bit output, and the pixels are best matched at around f/12. It runs at 60 frames per second at full resolution.

The body has an M28.5 thread as well as the 1.25″ barrel, and back focus is 7.5 mm. Fit a 5–100 mm CS-mount lens and it becomes a finder or a lens-based guider.
