Overview
The RotaTilter is ToupTek’s upgraded camera rotator and tilt adjuster for the HOPE D60 refractor. It replaces the telescope’s original rear rotator. HOPE D60s sold now have it fitted from the factory, so this is for owners of earlier telescopes.
The tilt adjustment sits in front of the rotator, so once the sensor is squared it stays squared as you turn the camera to frame a target. Four screws 90° apart set the gap at each corner of the sensor. An angle scale and a locking screw let you note the framing and return to it on another night, which matters when you add data to a project over several sessions.
It is 2 mm slimmer than the original rotator, which gives an extra 2 mm of back focus for longer imaging trains. The M48 and M54 adapters both take a 2″ filter inside, so a single filter can go in without a filter drawer.
Fitting
Screw the RotaTilter on to the telescope and mark the position of the telescope’s 0° mark. Then loosen the six screws on the mounting ring, turn the ring until its mark lines up with the locking screw, and tighten them again. That keeps the rotator centred on the optical axis.
