Overview
A star spike generator fits over the end of a refractor’s dew shield and adds four diffraction spikes, at 90° to each other, to bright stars, like those from the vanes of a Newtonian. We make each one to fit your telescope.
The vanes are thin, so they block as little light as possible. Felt pads protect the dew shield and hold the generator on by friction. Extra self-adhesive felt comes in the box, so you can set how tight it fits.
A small indent on the outside lets you line the generator up with a feature or pen mark on your dew shield, so the spikes sit at the same angle every night. The outer rim matches your dew shield’s diameter, so your lens cap still fits over the end.

How they’re made
Each generator is 3D printed in black PETG to your telescope’s size, so fine layer lines show on the surface. Made to order, usually dispatched the next working day.
